The Detroit Yacht Club
The Detroit Yacht Club, founded in 1868, is the largest and one of the oldest most prestigious private Clubs in North America. The current DYC clubhouse, located on a private island along the banks of the Belle Isle Park in Detroit, is of Mediterranean design and was completed by George Mason in 1922. Mr. Mason also designed the Gem Theater, Masonic Temple and the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island.
A Legacy of Sailing
The DYC has a long tradition of sailing programs catering to varied interests, skill levels and ages.
As a premier US Sailing member club and founding member of the 100+ year old Detroit Regional Yacht-Racing Association (DRYA), and Interlake Yachting Association member, the DYC has been a leading advocate for the sport of sailing.
The DYC has hosted numerous district, regional and national championship regattas and for more than over 100 years has both a spring Memorial Regatta and fall Sweepstakes Regatta, as well as a the traditional season ending DRYA Junior Sailing regatta and banquet.

For over 50 years, the DYC has been home to a fleet of Flying Scot club boats which it uses for adult learn to sail and racing.
In 2014, the historic Detroit Yacht Club hosted the induction ceremony for the National Sailing Hall of Fame.
